Cincinnati’s local music scene is one of the best in the country right now, so it’s hard for one band to stand out among many, many talented musicians. One Day Steady, however, has managed to turn some heads in an age when mainstream music is all that seems to be relevant. This probably has a lot to do with their catchy vocals and rhythms that you can’t help but get into.
That addictive nature just landed them their biggest show yet. Just last month, they got to open up for Smashmouth at UC’s Red & Black Bash, and they absolutely killed it. Performing to a crowd of thousands, the up-and-coming band didn’t get caught in the spotlight, and managed to perform one of the best shows we’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing. The crowd interaction was solid, too. This should come as no surprise, though, as the band is comprised of UC Alumni.
With the addition of their new album, Cinematic, they have a collection of music that is both strong and full of catchy tunes. You can check out a few of those songs here. Among their newer songs, our personal favorite is “Unhinged,” but we’ll always have some love for their classic, “Break Down.”
The exciting news just keeps rolling in for One Day Steady, too. The were recently featured on The Project. Not only that, but they just landed a rare, acoustic show with The Ataris. That show will be on October 3rd at the Southgate House, and there are only 100 tickets being sold. You can buy them here. This is one event you won’t want to miss.
At the end of the day, One Day Steady is a band that we should all check out because they’re both fun and local. We’ve been to a great deal of their shows, and they’ve only gotten better as time goes on. If you love a band that plays interactive, fun music that you can jump around to, then look no further. We can’t imagine what they’ll do next, but we know they’re on the verge of big things. Support local music!
