Jeni will always be our original girl from the block. Even though she’s grown up and spread to other towns, we know she was ours first. We’re a little protective of her, but her Salted Caramel is too good for life. You won’t be able to stop at one scoop; so don’t even try.

Johnson’s has been here since 1950, and has been able to sustain for good reason: that ice cream is addicting. To all of the cake-lovers out there, there’s nothing better to try than their red velvet delight on a humid summer night.

3. Knight’s Ice CreamA
Ever hear the terms “death by chocolate?” Well, Knight’s decided that they wanted to challenge how much chocolate one person can handle with their Chocolate Suicide flavor. Our verdict: it won’t kill you, but you probably won’t want chocolate for awhile afterwards. Just kidding, you’ll be back next week for the same scoops again.

4. Mardi Gras
If you’re trying to spice up your ice cream routine, you’re sure to find some tastes from the Eastern World at Mardi Gras. Their Fire & Ice has to be one of the more interesting flavors we’ve ever tried, but the odd burning when biting into the chilly ice cream was oddly satisfying. So weird.

Frozen custard is ice cream’s cooler cousin, and no one in Columbus does it better than Whit’s. Every week, they rotate in a new weekly flavor. You haven’t had the best until you’ve tried the Caramel Brownie, though. Then again, we haven’t had a flavor that we haven’t liked yet, so… there’s that. You might as well just complete the entire menu.

Who doesn’t love a Chunky Drunken Blondie anyway? Sugardaddy’s already makes some of the best baked treats in the country, but when they decided to come together with Johnson’s Ice Cream to make this beautiful treat… well, we have to say: that’s one sexy blonde. Oh, and don’t forget to grab some cheesecake while you’re there.

7. 39 Below FroYo
Ever wanted to put Nerd’s on your froyo? Yeah, we never considered it either. That was until we learned that they kept it behind the counter at their store. It may sound a little strange, but the best thing there is definitely the cake batter topped with nerds and brownie bits. It’s your choice, though, and you’ll have plenty of options here.

Honorable Mention: Graeter’s
Okay, so it didn’t start in Columbus, but you can’t go wrong with their Toffee Chocolate Chip in a waffle cone. We like to give respect to the locals on these lists, but we couldn’t forget to mention one of the best in the business.
