Matt Tomamichel isn’t your average guy. He’s just different, like, this guy owns 400 pairs of shoes kind of different. Matt is taking his off-the-charts sneaker game to uncharted territories in Cincinnati. With his sneaker-centric store, Corporate, Tomamichel is building a business that’s all about giving back.
“It’s about building a community of everyone with an obsession to have the hottest kicks.” said Matt. It wasn’t all that long ago that Corporate became the only store in Cincinnati to sell the new Air Yeezy’s, but it wasn’t all about the profit; not even close.
He’s definitely on to something, too. Famous clients such as the Bengals’ AJ Green and Pacman Jones are both consistent shoppers. It wasn’t always that way, though. Corporate has come a long way from its humble beginnings over in Springdale. Taking advice from the former owner of Deveroes, Matt has grown from a small-timer to a well-respected player in retail, in the matter of a few years, but his love for shoes came way before that.
That’s not to say that there weren’t plenty of bumps along the way. At the peak of his personal collection, back in 2008, his home was burglarized, seeing Matt lose over 400 pairs of carefully collected sneakers. There’s also the time where he felt like the store would never start turning a profit and grow to his ambitions. Luckily for all of us, Corporate was given the opportunity to relocate to their current location in Hyde Park Square, which has totally changed the business.
Unlike some of the sneaker stores you might find in NYC or L.A., Corporate wants everything to be catered towards the shopper; right down to the personalized signature on each bag. Far from the shoe snobbery that you might expect from some places, Matt is always ready to spark up a conversation about his favorite pair of Jordans (Jordan IV’s). It’s apparent that his love for Cincinnati runs deep, too.
Aside from the shoes, they also have a huge collection of shirts, hoodies, jackets, and hats that fit a variety of styles. You’ll find gear from Billionaire Boys Club to Corporate’s own private-label clothing. They’re even launching an upcoming partnership with Cincinnati locals, Noble Denim. Why even bother hitting the mall when you’ve got local spots like this?
There’s no doubt that bigger things are going to be coming from Corporate, who just hosted the Bigger Than Sneakers convention at Duke Energy Center. Whether you’re out for a fresh pair of Jordan’s, Vans, or Reeboks; Corporate is sure to have something to fit exactly what you’re looking for. Plus, Jay Z’s best friend just popped in to see what all the hype was about during their stop in Cincinnati for the On the Run tour. Things are about to blow up for Corporate, and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
