A comedy theater that lets you bring your own booze. Yes, the possibilities are truly endless at Chemically Imbalanced Comedy Theater. With shows constantly running, including the legendary Pimprov on Friday nights, you’re guaranteed to have a good time at this theater.
4. The ComedySportz Theatre
If you want to be involved in the show, you have to go to The ComedySportz Theatre on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night. They have great shows on other nights of the weeks, but you have to visit ComedySportz to see this improv show.
5. Comedians You Should Know
What’s the perfect pick-me-up for the middle of the week? Comedy and drinks, both of which you can get when you see Comedians You Should Know on Wednesday nights at Timothy O’Toole’s. Started by a group of five, Chicago-based, stand up comedians, the weekly show features the original cast as well as upcoming and established entertainers from around the country. This show will have you in tears from laughing so hard, and we can all use that on hump day.
6. The pH Comedy Theater
Whether you’re looking for improv, stand-up, or musical comedy, you’ll find it at The pH Comedy Theater. When phrases like “a capella improvised musical” are used to describe a show, in this case Pitch, Please, you know you’re going to want to be there. The BYOB policy is definitely something we enjoy as well.
7. Chicago Underground Comedy
For comedy with a bit of a raw edge, head to a Chicago Underground Comedy show at Beat Kitchen on Tuesday nights. The show is only $5, and features six or more stand up performances. Be prepared to hear fresh material and laugh until you pee your pants.
8. The Improvised Shakespeare Company
You don’t have to be a Shakespeare expert to enjoy what the people at The Improvised Shakespeare Company are doing. For every show, they take a suggestion from the audience and make up a Shakespearian production on the spot. The result is hilarious, clever, and would probably make old Shakespeare very proud.
