Embeya serves progressive Asian food, with options likes Veal Cheeks and Grilled Quail. They also have an extensive wine selection, so make sure to ask your server for a recommendation.

A good test of a relationship is going grocery shopping together, right? Just kidding, don’t do that. What you should do is take your date to the rooftop beer and wine garden at Gene’s. Enjoy a beautiful day, one of Gene’s amazing sausages, and a tasty drink. It’ll definitely be an unforgettable date.

4. Girl & the Goat
Stephanie Izard, Chicago native and winner of Top Chef Season 4, has created one of the best restaurants in the city, and the perfect place to take your date. It can be difficult to get a reservation, but walk ins are always welcome. Split the Pig Face with your date, and watch the sparks fly.
5. Webster’s Wine Bar
There’s something sexy about wine, and that’s why you should definitely take your date to Webster Wine Bar. No longer located on Webster, the new location on Milwaukee is the perfect cozy location to split a bottle of wine with your date. In addition to their insane wine selection, Webster’s also has a great menu of small plates, with options like Coconut Curry Mussels and Spanish Octopus.

6. The Violet Hour
If you’re really looking to impress your date, take them to The Violet Hour in Wicker Park. This high end restaurant is known for amazing cocktails and a no bullshit attitude. Sit in the lounge, in one of the extra high back chairs for a private, romantic vibe. Order the Goat Cheese Crotini, and a cocktail with your favorite liquor. Bonus: no cell phones allowed in the lounge means the only thing your date can pay attention to is you.

7. Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits
For a fun and fast paced date, go to Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits. The shop itself is bright and cozy, and the staff welcomes you like family member who’s returned from a long journey. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but you should definitely try the Horchata Pie. If your date doesn’t like pie, then why the heck are you going on a date with them anyways?

As the name indicates, Sepia has a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Built in an 1890 print shop, and decorated with artifacts from Chicago’s history, this is definitely a unique and interesting date spot. Go for the Tea Smoked Duck Breast, and definitely don’t skip out on the Chocolate Bourbon Pudding with Banana Fritters and Candied Pecans. You’ll definitely get a second date.
9. North Pond
For any sort of special date, North Pond is the perfect choice. Originally built in 1912 as a warming house for ice skaters, North Pond has a beautiful view of the Chicago skyline. Entrees like Bass and Rabbit will satisfy your taste buds and your date. After you eat, take a romantic walk around Lincoln Park.

10. Hub 51
R.J. and Jerrod Melman wanted a restaurant that felt like a constant party, with a menu that appealed to them, so that’s what they created with Hub 51. Bring your date here for a night that’s both sophisticated and laid back. They serve different fish seasonally for dinner, and also have a killer brunch menu. Just don’t ask them to sing you happy birthday.

Prasino is focused on serving local, hormone free, sustainable, and in-season food. The design is warm, contemporary and welcoming. The Grilled Scallops are a must try, and you need to ask your server about the seasonal cocktails. Plus, Prasino has plenty of vegetarian options, so there won’t be any awkward moments if your date forgot to mention any dietary restrictions.
Everyone loves carbs, so you really can’t go wrong with an amazing Italian restaurant like Balena. With pastas like Sardinian Style Gnocci, and pizzas that feature insane toppings like Klug Farm Peaches and Pistachio Pesto, your date is sure to be impressed by this choice.
13. Maude’s Liquor Bar
This is the kind of restaurant to get dressed up for, which makes it a perfect date spot. Whether you want to sit down for dinner, or just have a couple of cocktails, Maude’s Liquor Bar is where you need to go. You can go for the $165 Shellfish Tower, or one of the slightly more affordable options under the “French” and “Almost French” sections. Make sure to try one of their amazing cocktails while you’re there.

14. Le Colonial
Vietnamese food and a 1920s vibe, Le Colonial will definitely impress your date. The two story row house has a very romantic atmosphere, and definitely has the colonial French feeling. Their Pho soup is amazing, but whatever you do, make sure to get the Banana Wonton for dessert.

If you can snag a seat at table 70, you are sure to have a great date. This Italian restaurant offers a warm, personal atmosphere, with wooden floors and brick walls. You won’t be disappointed by the Spaghetti Frutti Di Mare. Make sure to ask your server for a wine selection to go with your entre.
